Essex Class - Short Hull - Ghukek's Miniatures Summary
This flight deck waterslide decal is offered in either fresh 20-B Deck Blue colors or weathered and faded colors. Designed for Ghukek's Miniatures Short Hull sculpt as 3D printed by Xforge and will fit both early & late war versions of this sculpt.
These waterslide decals are precision cut to perfectly match the flight deck shape. The colors and flight deck details are crisply rendered to provide an historically accurate image. They are printed on a thin white film that can't always block out dark underlying paint colors. It is recommended that the deck remain a single, lighter color to provide a consistently uniform look across the deck decal surface.
Sizes:
1/1200 scale - 222 mm
1/1800 scale - 148 mm
1/2400 scale - 111 mm
1/3600 scale - 74 mm - (This scale is slightly larger than the A&A scale)
Each deck decal comes with a national flag and a ship label with key ship characteristics. Optionally choose authentic hull camouflage (when available). The Essex class consisted of two different bow configurations. The "Long Hull" reference is given to differentiate the Ticonderoga subclass from ealier Essex class carriers. The Ticonderoga subclass had a hull which extended beyond the flight deck, thus these ships are referred to as "Long Hull". These are the ships with the long hull design:
Decal application tips - At bigger scales these decals get very large and can be difficult to manuever into place. It is recommended to wet down the entire deck surface before applying the decals. Moisten with water as needed to allow the decal to easily move into position. Once in position, gently wisk away the excess moisture, taking care not to move the decal out of position. Add more water in cases where repositioning is needed. The decals should lay flat and fit perfectly. Be gentle and take your time.
